As believers we are bombarded daily with this world, our flesh, various opinions, ads, music, movies that conflict with the word of God. That is exactly why the bible says “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)”
This world and the individuals living in it are not the standard. Not even fellow believers! We cannot allow this world to put us in it’s mold. This is why we need to renew our minds daily with the word of God.
What is your posture with God today? That posture not only shows how we see God, but how we see ourselves.
Lacking satisfaction in the Christian life can lead us to covet another individuals possessions (though God stated in His word “do not covet thy neighbor“), it can cause you to try to act out on willpower or lead you to completely walk away from the Christian faith. I believe that this heart posture (dissatisfaction) is a result of not understanding the exchange of accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Trust me, I didn’t grasp it for a while and sometimes I still have to remind myself THY WILL BE DONE.
As the bible states in Ephesians 1:11, “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will”. He chose us, he has foreknowledge of everything that takes place and it all happens for the purpose of His will!
Being in the digital age, it’s so easy to assume the grass is greener on the other side while scrolling through social media. No one shows the struggles, only what’s pleasing to the eye. It’s easy to see someone at the end of their journey excelling at what they’re doing and you start to think to yourself “I can do that too!” or “I want to do that!”. It’s no longer Gods will and desires for His grand purpose that are overpowering your own. You assume that you’re lacking something, Gods timing is too slow and you HAVE TO HELP.
The fact that God has an individual purpose for each and all of our lives should empower us to have the desire to stay in His will. Doesn’t that excite you?
When we get saved, it’s easy to say that we surrender our lives to the one and only true God. He is our Savior! Truth is that reality grows bigger as we grow in Christ. It’s easier said than done. It’s human nature to want answers and want to know all the details, but as believers we are supposed to think differently. That is no longer our responsibility!
Now you may say, “am I supposed to sit around and do nothing”? How do I know what God wants me to do? Simple answer, pray and read the word. As your heart aligns with His will, His desires will replace your desires which is all apart of his plan and purpose . Naturally the human mind isn’t capable to think biblically. We must stay in the word to enable us to think and focus biblically. It is our responsibility to believe, trust and most importantly have faith. Our sovereign God is not on the sideline waiting to jump into our lives at moments when we think we need Him the most. He is there throughout all moments!
So the next time you covet the life/journey of another individual, stand firm with your armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18 ) and take captive every thought that goes against the word of God and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Trust and most importantly believe that he is sovereign and working out everything for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Surrender it and know that where you are is exactly where He wants you to be.
Do not spend time worrying about something that’s already handled.
As I always say, stay plugged.
